Disinfectant for Hospitals in Spain in the Midst of the Outbreak

While Spain finally recorded a slowdown in the rate of new COVID-19 infections on Friday, fatalities continue to climb and the country’s hospitals are hard-pressed to cope. Learning that a shortage of disinfectant was putting patients at risk, two Madrid businessmen stepped in with a life-saving #donation.

MADRID, SPAIN: While Spain finally recorded a slowdown in the rate of new COVID-19 infections on Friday, fatalities continue to climb and the country's hospitals are hard-pressed to cope. Learning that a shortage of disinfectant was putting patients at risk, two Madrid businessmen stepped in with a life-saving donation.

As the coronavirus pandemic started to spike in Spain this week, two Madrid Scientologists learned that hospitals, first responders and police were desperately short of disinfectant. They used their own company to produce two tons of sanitizing fluid to help fill the immediate need, donating 5,000 units to Madrid hospitals, 1,200 to the city administration and 500 to local police.

Both the Scientologists are also active Scientology Volunteer Ministers. When they learned of a shortage of face masks for hospital staff, they used their business supply lines to locate these urgently needed supplies.

The Church of Scientology has also produced a new website to help people stay well in the midst of the pandemic. Located on the Scientology website at scientology.org/staywell, the new resource includes a simple two-minute video and a booklet titled How to Keep Yourself and Others Well that can be read online or downloaded. The website lays out the best prevention practices including information on why prevention is important, how to properly wash your hands, social distancing tips, how to clean and sanitize your home, and what to do if you become sick or have symptoms.

The website is available in 17 languages and is offered as a public service by the Church of Scientology
