BENEDICT XVI IN SAO PAULO: BROTHER GALVAO IS SAINT

BRAZIL: Vatican, Misna on ladysilvia.eu; “The Franciscan charisma, evangelically lived, has given significant fruits through his testimony as an ardent adorer of the Eucharist, as a prudent and wise guide of the souls who sought him out and of great devotion to the Immaculate Conception of Mary”: said Benedict XVI, opening the canonization mass at the Mars Fields in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the figure of Brother Antonio of Saint Anne Galvão. The Pope laso highlighted “his availability to the service of the people, anytime he was asked”, describing him as an “advisor of fame, pacifier of souls and families, dispenser of charity especially to the poor and the sick. He was much sought for confessions, because of his zeal, wisdom and prudence”, said the pope. In reference to the new saint’s availability to all, the pope said: “the fame of his immense charity knew no bounds. People of the entire national geography approached Brother Galvão, who welcomed them all paternally. There were the poor, the sick in body and soul, who implored for his help” (minsa) [AB]
