SOUTH AFRICA, The president of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, has launched a vigorous anticorruption campaign.
The minister of Social Policies, Zola Skweyiya wrote in the ANC newspaper (party of Nelson Mandela and Mbeki ) said that over 37,000 government employees are being targeted by the investigation, while another 30,000 have taken advantage of an amnesty restricted for those, who obtained state economic assistance illegally. "Such numbers " said Mbeki " outline the picture of a situation of practices that damage the wellbeing of the common people. We have to eliminate them".
According to the African head of State, corruption and abuse “constitute a serious challenge to the attainment of the objectives of a better life for everyone and of a more humane society".
We need concrete action, added Mbeki, to demonstrate that "we are united in war against these parasites" and that "belonging to Parliament means to be militant fighters against corruption and the looting of the wealth and hope of the people. [CO]
