MOTHER'S DAY IN THE NET

In any case, this special day is associated with flowers, which are the most traditional gift reserved to mothers. Mothers are also divided in cathegories: modern mums(dressing and speaking like their sons), traditional mums (continuously caring about the health of their guys) and the so defined "just mums"(born to be a mum). Italians "dote on" their mum, expecially Italian guys who use to leave their houses after the age of thirty. In conclusion, don't forget to wish a happy Mother's Day also to your granny.

Mother's day has always been celebrated, starting from Prehistory until ancient Greece. Prehistoric men used to honour the so called "Great Mother", which represented the fertility. The Greeks, on the contrary, were used to dedicate one day to their mothers; it was the day of Rea, the mother of gods. The same goddess had the name of Cibele for the Romans, who were also used to held banquets for an entire week in May. These 7 days were dedicated to spring and flowers and got the name of "Floralia".
